or=white][/color]Just a question in regard to swapping a Series 1 to 2, or 3 3800 engine. I tried the link on a previous post, and am unable to get past the authorization login. I just filled out the member info this morning, which may be why. Any help would be splendid.
Thank you. |

From a 1 to a 2 requires a bit of wireing
From a 2 to a 3 is not bad depending on if your ok keeping the old TB and fuel system. |

Presently I have a series one, with the OBD 2 connector. This must be like a 1994 and a half in a Pontiac Trans Sport. I am considering the upgrade, whether just the long block, or the whole thing, depending on the modifications. Of course, a Series 3 crate motor with all of the trimmings would do me nicely, if the electrical conversions (PCM/ECM) would fit. Like I need 260hp in a minivan, but then again "too much" is not in my vocabulay when talking horsepower.
Basically, I have a van in great shape with a high mileage engine and transmission. Before I move from WI to WA, I will replace, or overhaul both and am looking for my best option. Should I remain satisfied with the series one motor? Any modifications to get a bit more hp out of such? I do not race, but I pull a small boat with it, so more hp will help.
Thank you,

I have a someone from church with a '97 LeSabre that has a bad motor. My neighbor just wrecked his '93 Olds 98 which has a good motor. Is it possible to swap a series 2 motor into a car that came with a series 3 motor? I realize the operating systems are different, but are there any pitfalls I should know about before attempting to make this work?? Thank you in advance for your help!! |
