I have a "99 grand prix that was running good until it came back from having the manifold gasket replaced and new plugs and wires installed. Since then it just isnt strong like it use to be from stock. It has a v6 in it and about 120,000 miles on her. All freeway usually doing 80 mph. I have also noticed a noise and looked at the wobbly harmonic balancer. I had that replaced. When she's going up a hill or sometimes just driving in town at 30 mph there's a definant chug like all power is shut down for an instant or like it's slipping. This is infrequent but the power isnt there any more. I put my foot into it and she takes off but it's like a miss. I was told it could be the timing chain. What does Streetracer have for advice on where to start I'm not to good with mechanics but understand the pricipal of things when told. Felix, (w/o his bag of tricks)

Since your manifold was just replaced along with plugs and wires that is the first place I would look. One of the plugs or wires could have been damaged during the install.

Generaly if there is a problem right after something was done I like to look at that first before throwing more things at it.

Also what manifold was replaced? You might also want to check the rear O2 and its wires.

It was the intake manifold.

Ahh the intake manifold, then you need to check both your antifreeze and your oil. If it did not seat properly then you might be getting antifreeze in your cylinders.

From the non-motorhead would there be oil in the anti-freeze or anti-freeze in the oil? The question may sound silly but I'm not real educated in the trade.

It can go both ways, so you should check them both.

If there is AF in the oil your oil will look a milky color

if there is oil in your AF then you will see it floating on top in your radiator usualy.

When my intake blew up, there was coolant in my oil and it looked like a milky colored mud. Not good. I would change the oil anyway, just to be safe.
